Are ASUS TUF TF120 Fans the Best for ARGB Builds?
I recently decided to upgrade my PC’s cooling and was looking into ARGB fans that offer both good airflow and eye-catching lighting. I came across the ASUS TUF Gaming TF120 fans and liked their design, but I haven’t seen many reviews about their actual performance or durability. After installing them, I noticed the lighting looks great, but I’m not sure if they’re the best choice overall. Should I stick with these, or are there better options out there for ARGB fans that combine performance and looks? Would love some advice before I make a final decision.

I've had bad experiences with TUF fans in the past. Their durability was questionable, and the lighting started flickering after a few months.

John, interesting. I've heard ASUS has improved their quality lately. Did you buy directly from ASUS or a third-party seller?

I think it depends on your priorities. If you want quiet operation and decent lighting, TF120s are fine. But if max airflow or overclocking is your goal, maybe look at Noctua or Corsair.

I've got the Corsair LL120s, and the lighting is brighter and more customizable. But they are pricier. Anyone compare these directly to the ASUS TF120s?

Anna, I have the LL120s. They are excellent but can be loud at max RPM. The TF120s are quieter, I believe.

Does anyone know if the TF120 fans are compatible with different RGB software? I want synchronized lighting across all components.

Yes, ASUS Aura Sync works well with these fans. I use it to match my motherboard and GPU lighting.

I'm considering these for my build. How's the airflow compared to other ARGB fans? Anyone tested cooling performance?
.png)
In my experience, they perform decently but aren't the best for thermal performance. If cooling is your main concern, maybe look at the Thermaltake Riing fans.

Natalie, do you think the airflow difference is noticeable for a typical gaming PC?
Interesting:

I've read that the TF120s have a PWM feature, so they adjust speeds based on temps. That helps reduce noise too.

Are these fans easy to install? I’m worried about compatibility with larger radiators or cases.

Tom, I installed them in a mid-tower case with a 240mm radiator and had no issues. They fit well and look great.

Any concerns about the longevity of the lighting or fans? How long do they typically last?
.png)
I've had mine for about a year, no issues so far. ASUS generally makes reliable fans, but keep them clean to avoid dust buildup.

What about noise levels at full speed? Are the TF120s loud under load?
.png)
Brian, they are pretty quiet compared to some RGB fans I've used. Not completely silent, but acceptable for regular use.
.png)
Would you recommend these for a RGB build that prioritizes aesthetics over extreme cooling?
.png)
Absolutely. They look great, and if you're not overclocking heavily, they should be more than enough.

Are there any issues with the lighting sync if I have other brand components? Or is ASUS Aura Sync the way to go?

Daniel, ASUS Aura Sync works best with ASUS components, but it also supports some third-party hardware. Check compatibility first.
I've used the ASUS TUF TF120 fans in my build for a few months. They look awesome and are pretty quiet. Performance-wise, they're solid, but not the best for overclocked setups.
Mike, thanks for sharing! Do you think they're good enough for a mid-range gaming PC, or should I look for something with higher airflow?
