BBC confirms cast for series 7 of Line of Duty, including new and returning actors
Jed Mercurio’s hit crime thriller Line of Duty is returning to the BBC next year and the newly-announced cast includes some new faces.
The BBC confirmed the new and returning cast members today (March 18) before filming starts in Northern Ireland.
Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, who play three of the main characters, will all return to their roles, but do you know who will join them?
The show’s writer and creator, Jed Mercurio, said: “I’m honoured to be working with our brilliant new cast members, and I know the audience will be thrilled to see some much-loved old faces returning from previous seasons.”
What to expect from series 7 of Line of Duty
The BBC shared a synopsis of the new series: “In series seven AC-12 has been disbanded and rebranded the Inspectorate of Police Standards.
“Anticorruption work has never been more difficult and in this challenging climate Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) are assigned their most sensitive case so far.
“Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a charismatic officer winning plaudits for a string of takedowns of organised crime, is accused of abusing his position of trust to act as a sexual predator.
“But is Gough’s case a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows?”
