On routes like Heathrow to the US, India and Orlando, data suggests the cheapest months are usually outside holiday peaks, often May and September.
Cheapest days and times to fly from Heathrow
Fare calendars suggest Tuesday and Wednesday flights are usually cheaper than Fridays and Sundays, when demand is highest.
Late-night or overnight long-haul flights can be cheaper than morning departures on the same day, though they’re less convenient.
Use “whole month” or “cheapest month” search tools with Heathrow as your starting airport to find the lowest fares.
Try moving your trip a few days either side of your chosen date.
Check nearby airports such as Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and City to see when Heathrow costs more, and decide if it’s worth paying extra.
