At this year’s New York Comic Con, fans received an exclusive glimpse into the upcoming Star Trek universe expansion with the debut of a new trailer for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. This highly anticipated ten-episode series promises to explore the adventures of the galaxy’s newest generation of cadets, marking the franchise’s first fresh cohort in over a century.

The series centers on a diverse group of young recruits united by their shared aspirations of hope and exploration. Under the rigorous guidance of their instructors, the cadets face the challenges of becoming Starfleet officers while forging bonds through friendship, rivalry, and romance. Amid their personal growth, they encounter a formidable new adversary threatening both the Academy and the Federation at large.

Among the new characters are Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, a human orphan; Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag, a Klingon cadet; Kerrice Brooks as Sam (Mil), the first Kasquain at the Academy; George Hawkins as Darem Reymi, a Khionian aspiring to captaincy; Bella Shepard as Genesis Lythe, a Dar-Sha student; and Zoë Steiner as Tarima Sadal, daughter of the Betazoid president. The cast also features Holly Hunter as Chancellor Captain Nahla Ake, Gina Yashere as Cadet Master Lura Thok, and Becky Lynch portraying a Starfleet bridge crew member. Notably, Paul Giamatti joins as Nus Braka, a half-Klingon, half-Tellarite antagonist, setting the stage for intense conflicts.
