Father and son opening new Normanby darts shop, hoping to achieve success.

A dad and son duo are hoping to hit the mark with their new darts shop in Normanby. Jamie Stoddart, 20, along with his dad, Terry, launched Stod-Darts as an online store around 18 months ago and business has boomed with online sales and pop-up shops around the area.

At the weekend they will be opening Stod-Darts shop in Normanby’s Mason Street and three-time world champion player, Glen Durrant, will be going along at 8am on Saturday, March 21, to cut the ribbon.

Jamie, an architect, said he started playing darts around two years ago and realised he wanted to go and look at buying new darts but at the time there was no physical shop in the Teesside area.

He said: “The darts scene is huge now, since Luke Littler it has really taken off. There’s loads playing in the area, darts is really at its peak. There’s competitions nearly every night.”

Jamie, along with his dad, launched Stod-Darts online first from their Nunthorpe home and started doing pop up shops with partners MJV Promotions, Teesside Darts Academy and the Ray Barclay Foundation so people could come and try out the darts and equipment to see what they wanted.

After it was proven successful, the pair decided to open a shop and are excited to be welcoming in their first customers soon. Jamie said: “It started off as just a bit of a side hustle, but it really took off. We will have someone working in the shop during the week and I will probably be in there running it every weekend.”

He explained the shop will sell everything darts related. The young businessman added: “There will be two boards up in the shop to showcase some of the products and people will be able to try them. We want to help people find the darts that are right for them.”

The shop will be welcoming anyone, from serious players to beginners and darts lovers to go along and have a look around the new store.
