New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly backed out of a planned interview with CBS News over concerns about the coverage, with the alleged “nail in the coffin” being a social media post by network head Bari Weiss.

Vanity Fair reported on Thursday, March 12, that Mamdani was making plans for a sit-down interview with CBS Sunday Morning‘s Robert Costa. The mayor was reportedly hesitant, however, due to critical coverage he’d received from The Free Press, the staunchly pro-Israel digital news outlet run by Weiss, who is also CBS News’ editor-in-chief. Then she allegedly made things worse.

On Feb. 28, President Donald Trump announced “Operation Epic Fury,” the U.S. and Israel’s “massive and ongoing” military action in Iran.

The segment, titled “Inside CECOT,” was removed just hours before broadcast, with a CBS News spokesperson writing in a press release at the time that the story needed additional reporting and would air at a future date.

However, longtime correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi sent a private email about the segment to her fellow 60 Minutes staffers, which was later obtained by multiple media outlets.

In it, Alfonsi said she learned that Weiss had “spiked our story,” calling the decision “not an editorial decision” but “a political one.”

The Endless Summer Vacation singer shared her thoughts on whether she’d ever headline a Super Bowl Halftime show in the future, and she has already considered what it might look like.

“I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” Miley, 33, told Variety in an interview published March 18. “I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world.’”

She continued, “But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary was—taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is—I think I could find it in myself.”

Indeed, Miley has been honoring her word as she continues to promote her Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which will premiere on Disney+ March 24. In the special’s trailer, the “Nobody’s Perfect” star wore her titular character’s iconic blonde wig as she walked around the show’s set. She even recreated the cover of Hannah’s debut soundtrack, sporting a similar white jacket and bedazzled top.

Geelong’s All-Australian star Smith suffered a low-grade calf injury during training with the Cats last week and has been ruled out of Wednesday night’s pre-season clash with Carlton. The Cats are confident it’s nothing serious for Smith and are optimistic the 25-year-old be available for their first fixture of the new season – the Opening Round clash with Gold Coast on Friday, March 6.

“Bailey reported low-grade calf symptoms during training last Friday,” a statement from Geelong revealed. “His loading will be modified during training this week and we expect him to be available for Opening Round.”

Geelong teammate Gryan Miers is also under an injury cloud after hurting his thumb in pre-season training. The forward will miss the Cats’ pre-season game against Carlton and is considered a touch-and-go prospect for the Opening Round game against the Suns. Geelong are already missing Tyson Stengle, who took personal leave from the club over pre-season.

Tigers and Kangaroos also rocked by pre-season injuries

Richmond’s pre-season preparations have also been rocked by the news young gun Hotton will be out for up to four months after scans revealed bone stress in his foot. Big things are expected of the Tigers ace in 2026 after he missed the first half of last season recovering from an ACL rupture, and he was excellent in last week’s match simulation against Essendon, before pulling up sore.

“Taj will begin modified weight bearing across the next 10 days to two weeks, before starting a slow progression back into running,” Richmond high performance manager Ben Serpell said. “We anticipate that it will be approximately six to eight weeks before he is back running and possibly four months before he is available for selection.

“Taj has done some really strong conditioning over both the off-season and the pre-season, and we were really pleased with how he was placed for this season. We know his professionalism will continue across this rehabilitation phase, and we will support him through that.”

Meanwhile, North Melbourne’s Wardlaw will also miss the start of the new season after picking up a low-grade hamstring strain during last week’s simulation against the Demons. The Kangaroos are confident the midfielder will be able to return to action in the next three to four weeks.

“Scans confirmed a low-grade strain similar to the previous injury in the same area,” North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said about Wardlaw on Tuesday. “He has presented really well… and will look to return to play in the next 3-4 weeks.”

In January she was found guilty of six charges including compulsory labour, false imprisonment and assault. The court was told how Wixon had taken in her victim, her friend’s daughter, in 1997 and kept her imprisoned until March 2021, when Wixon’s son called the police.

Wixon kept the girl as a slave, regularly beating her, forcing her to look after Wixon’s children and clean the house. Other vile abuse included hitting her with a broom handle, knocking out her teeth.

Washing-up liquid would be squirted down her throat, bleach splashed on her face, and she had her head repeatedly shaved against her will. The Mirror reports that during the sentencing hearing today, Sam Jones, prosecuting, read a note the victim had written to the court.

The woman, who is not being identified, said: “For 25 years, I lived in fear, control and abuse. I was treated as though my life, my freedom and my voice did not matter.

“Although my abuser has now been found guilty, the trauma and the nightmares are something I still carry with me every day. I am now living with a wonderful family who show me kindness, patience and support.

“Their love is helping me slowly rebuild the life that was taken from me and begin to feel safe again. Nothing can give me back the 25 years I lost.

“But I hope the court recognises the deep and lasting harm this abuse has caused and delivers a sentence that truly reflects the seriousness of these crimes.”

She was forced to secretly wash at night and eat scraps, with Wixon never allowing her out of the house, the court heard. Wixon’s prisoner was just a 16-year-old secondary school student when she first took her in.

The victim made voice notes about her ordeal on a hidden phone, as Wixon forced her to live in unsanitary conditions. Officers found her now in her 40s, with bruises and no teeth thanks to beatings from Wixon.

She had been forced to sleep in a mouldy and damp bedroom which was compared to a prison cell in court. She appeared timid and unwashed in body worn footage from officers, and she told officers the last time she bathed was over a year ago.

The defendant denied a charge of false imprisonment, two charges of requiring a person to perform forced or compulsory labour, and four charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. A jury acquitted her of one assault charge but found her guilty of the others.

The family home in the Priors Park area of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, shared by Wixon and her children, was described as overcrowded, in a squalid condition, with mould on the walls, plaster hanging off and rubbish in the back garden.

When she was rescued, the woman told police: “I don’t want to be here. I don’t feel safe. Mandy hits me all the time. I don’t like it. I haven’t washed for years. She doesn’t let me.”

The court heard social services were involved with the family in the late 1990s but there were no records of any contact since. “The fact remains that nothing was done by social services,” Mr Jones said.

There were no medical records or dental records for the woman, and she had not seen a doctor in two decades. When she was discovered by police, her Body Mass Index was “very close” to being underweight.

What Happened to Jason Hughes?

On Thursday, March 5, a group of students from North Hall High School went to Hughes’ home in Gainesville, Georgia, with the intent to prank the math teacher by covering his front lawn, trees and home with toilet paper.

The prank was part of an ongoing prank war, in which students tried to collect points with each task. Both Hughes and his wife were teachers at the school, which meant they would receive double the points for completing the task.

As the five teenagers — including 18-year-old Jayden Ryan Wallace — threw toilet paper at the property, Hughes left his house and ran after the teenagers. As all of the teenagers ran away into different cars, Hughes tripped and fell in front of the car that Wallace was driving. Wallace then ran over Hughes and he suffered serious injuries.

Wallace and the other four teenagers did stop to try to help Hughes, who was dead by the time first responders pulled up to the scene.

Wallace was charged with felony first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving. Additionally, he is facing misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and littering on private property.

Meanwhile, Elijah Tate Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ana Katherine Luque and Ariana Cruz are also facing misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and littering on private property for their involvement in the incident.

It is not currently clear if any of the teenagers have retained legal representation following or entered pleas. If Wallace is found guilty, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

Jayden Wallace Broke Silence After Jason Hughes’ Death

Just five days after Hughes’ death, Wallace and his family broke their silence while speaking to 11Alive about the tragic incident.

“We are a family in deep remorse and grieving over such a tremendous loss in our North Hall community. Jason Hughes meant the world to our son, Jayden,” Wallace’s family said in the statement on March 10. “He took the time to invest in Jay and poured his love into him, making a lasting impact. Along with the rest of our family, Jay expresses his deepest sorrow and sincerest apology to the Hughes family.”

Wallace also made his own comments in the statement.

“I pledge to live out the remainder of my life in a manner that honors the memory of Coach Hughes by exemplifying Christ. He will never be forgotten,” he said.

Hughes was married to his wife, Laura Hughes, and the couple shared young sons Owen and Luke.

After Hughes’ death, Laura told the New York Times that he “was excited” about the prank and was “waiting to catch them in the act.”

She went on to state that her family fully “supports getting the charges dropped for all involved,” adding that her husband loved the students.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent a separate tragedy from occurring, ruining the lives of these students,” she said. “This would be counter to Jason’s lifelong dedication of investing in the lives of these children.”

Georgia High School Issued Warning About Pranks Before Jason Hughes’ Death

Just hours before the fatal jape took place, Hall County School District asked seniors and juniors to not participate in the prank war tradition after things had been taken “too far” in previous years.

“While we understand that prom is a time for celebration and creating lasting memories, we must emphasize the importance of responsible behavior and respect for others and their property,” the district said in a statement on the afternoon of March 5, according to The New York Post. “In previous years, some pranks during prom season — sometimes referred to as Junior/Senior Wars — have gone too far, resulting in damage to property.”

Following Hughes’ passing, a GoFundMe page was set up to help raise funds “to assist his family with immediate expenses and a future college fund for his children.”

“Jason’s life was a blessing to so many, and his untimely passing will be indescribably difficult for his wife and two young boys for years to come,” the page read. “Please use this opportunity to come alongside them in their time of immediate need and future planning for his children.”

While the fundraising goal was set at $75,000, it has already raised over $302,000 as of time of publication.

When Sean “Diddy” Combs was accused of rape, sex trafficking and domestic violence in a civil lawsuit filed by his ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, Joi Dickerson-Neal decided it was time that she shared her story too.

“I felt very sad for her, but it was also validation to know I’m not the only one,” she said in Netflix’s 2025 docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. “I am not the only one. I was no longer going to be embarrassed. I’m going to stand up.”

According to Dickerson-Neal, she and Combs met around 1989 while she was attending school at Syracuse University and working as a music video promoter. Because the rapper was moonlighting as a party promoter, they occasionally ran in the same circles.

One night, Dickerson-Neal said she attended one of Combs’ parties and, at the end of the evening, was helping him clean up mud that guests had tracked inside. He asked her to appear in a music video with him for “Straight from the Soul” by Finesse & Synquis. She agreed and rode with him to film.

“The whole premise was for me to jump out the car and go with these girls and get away from the pimp guy,” Dickerson-Neal recalled in The Reckoning.

In her 2023 lawsuit, Dickerson-Neal alleged that Combs drugged and sexually assaulted her while they were on a date. She said she left her drink at the table with the rapper and soon “couldn’t independently stand or walk,” per the complaint.

Dickerson-Neal also claimed in her complaint that Combs filmed the alleged assault, which she found out when “a male friend revealed to her that he had viewed the ‘sex tape’ along with other men.” She further alleged in The Reckoning that the friend’s comment was how she learned about the assault and that people told her Combs played the tape on a large-screen TV at his parties.

Though she claimed she attempted to get help after the assault, she said people were reluctant to risk their invitations to his parties. Dickerson-Neal alleged that after avoiding Combs for a while, she eventually confronted him about the assault and the tape.

“He got on his knees and swore he did not do this thing to me,” she said in The Reckoning. “That was the very last time I talked to him.”

The Duchess of Sussex has given her admirers the rare chance of enjoying a one-on-one meeting with her at the “Her Best Life” weekend retreat at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach resort in Australia in March 2026.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to listen to Meghan share her thoughts with the popular podcast co-host, Gemma O’Neill, and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. Other side attractions at the event include a gala dinner, a session with a psychologist to help them meditate and manifest, alongside other fun activities.

The insider emphasized that Netflix was not happy, and they had initially played with the idea of featuring Meghan’s products in their physical retail locations planned for Dallas or Philadelphia.

In the insider’s words, “They were not happy with the fact that no one really cared about the brand, so when they were looking to create As Ever areas in Netflix House, there was no appetite for it.” The source added that the concept did not align with their successful projects like “Squid Game,” “Stranger Things,” or “Bridgerton.”

Todd James Creighton, 41, of Furrlongs in Newport, was found dead at his home on March 15 last year.

A section 9C written inquest was recently completed at the IW Coroner’s Court.

According to Mr Creighton’s Record of Inquest, he was discovered after concerns were raised with the police about his welfare.

Officers attended his address, where he was found dead in his bedroom, and investigations found no suspicious circumstances.

A post-mortem examination found he had suffered hypoxic brain injury and severe respiratory depression, caused by the combined use of alcohol, pregabalin, diazepam, nordazepam, codeine, methadone and heroin.

Mr Creighton, who was born in Newport, had a “long history of chronic drug use” and had previously engaged with drug treatment services but had disengaged, and his substance use had worsened in the months leading to his death.

The Record of Inquest noted this deterioration came alongside several committed criminal offences.

Coroner Caroline Sumeray determined that Mr Creighton died “as a consequence of the consumption of illicit and prescribed drugs together with alcohol.”

“Live With Kelly and Mark” will once again go live with its “After the Oscars” show on Monday, March 16 — the day after the Oscars — at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET from the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood, less than seven hours after the Oscars sign off at the venue. Guests will include Wyclef Jean and Andra Day with the music, while comedian and impressionist Matt Friend will report for the show from the red carpet.

Also, Leanne Morgan will be on hand to talk about the awards show’s biggest moments, while Carson Kressley will discuss the night’s fashion hits and misses. Also set to join in: DJ Cassidy.

Then there’s also Ripa’s and Consuelos’ interview with host Conan O’Brien, which will take place immediately after the ceremony.

Ripa and Consuelos will also once again be stationed backstage during the Oscars to talk with winners immediately after they get their trophy.

“We have to be prepared for literally anyone,” Ripa said. “If there’s one thing the Academy Awards has taught me, it is to be prepared for anyone to come backstage. It doesn’t matter who the favorite is. It doesn’t matter who won the BAFTA. It doesn’t matter who won all the other shows. Anything can happen!”

The road to the Academy Awards on “Live With Kelly and Mark” includes this Friday’s pre-Oscars show, with will include past Oscar winner Adrien Brody, as well as Oscars Governors Ball official chef Wolfgang Puck offering a special cooking demo on how to make his chicken pot pie.

“Live With Kelly and Mark” remains the most-watched entertainment talk show on television. “Live with Kelly and Mark” is distributed in national syndication by Disney Entertainment. The show, produced by WABC-TV, is executive produced by Michael Gelman and Ripa.
