First Look: ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 (2025) with RTX 5090
I’ve been eyeing the new ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 (2025) with the RTX 5090 and can’t decide if it’s worth the upgrade. The specs look insane, but I wonder about real-world performance and heat issues. Has anyone here had hands-on experience? Should I go for it or wait for reviews?

I’ve been using a 2024 model, and I think the 2025 is a big step up. But for the price, I’d wait a little longer for more reviews.

John, fair point. Has anyone checked the battery life? I’ve heard the RTX 5090 is power-hungry.

Battery life on high-end gaming laptops is usually not great, but I’m more interested in performance. Anyone tested it for prolonged gaming sessions?

I’ve read that the cooling system is significantly improved. Still, thermal throttling can happen with such powerful specs, right?

Laura, thermal throttling is common with these GPUs, but ASUS generally does a good job with cooling. Waiting for the reviews is smart.

Is the display as good as it looks in the specs? 4K, high refresh rate, HDR? I want a laptop that can handle both gaming and content creation.

Anna, I have the previous model and the display quality makes a big difference. Should be similar or better with the 2025.

Yes, the display is stunning. I’ve seen some videos; colors are vibrant, and the refresh rates are smooth.

What about the price? It’s quite expensive. Do you think it’s justified for the specs and features?
Interesting:

Price is high, but for a flagship gaming laptop with an RTX 5090, it’s expected. Still, I’d wait for some benchmarks.

Is it worth upgrading from a 2024 model if I already have one? Or should I wait for the next gen?
.png)
George, if your current setup is good enough, maybe hold off. But if you want the latest, this seems compelling.

Any reports on the weight and portability? These high-end laptops tend to be bulky.
.png)
I’ve carried my older ROG Scar around a lot, and it’s pretty hefty. Would be cautious about portability.
.png)
How does the RTX 5090 compare to previous GPUs in terms of performance? Worth the extra cost?
.png)
Sam, from what I’ve seen, it’s a significant jump, especially for 4K gaming and heavy rendering.
.png)
Does anyone know about the software enhancements or new features ASUS included in this model?
.png)
Not sure about that, but ASUS usually includes some nice gaming optimizations and customization options.
.png)
Would you recommend this for someone who also does video editing and 3D work, not just gaming?
.png)
Alex, absolutely. With that GPU and display, it’s a powerhouse for creative work too.
I just got mine last week. The performance is incredible, especially for gaming and heavy workloads. No thermal issues so far.
Mike, that's good to hear! Do you notice any noise or fan loudness under load? I worry about the cooling.
