Google Expands AI Mode Globally to Over 180 Countries with New Restaurant Booking Features

Google is significantly broadening its AI-powered Search features, expanding AI Mode to over 180 countries worldwide. Previously limited to the US, India, and the UK, this expansion marks a major step toward making AI-driven search assistance accessible on a global scale. Currently, the feature supports only English, but Google has indicated that additional languages will be added soon.

The updated AI Mode now offers enhanced agentic capabilities, allowing users to interact using natural language for tasks such as booking restaurant reservations. Users can specify preferences like party size, date, location, and cuisine type, with Google’s AI pulling relevant options from across the web. Reservation suggestions are displayed as a list with available time slots and direct links to booking platforms, including partners like OpenTable, Resy, and Tock.

In addition to dining, Google plans to introduce features for local service appointments and event ticketing, partnering with Ticketmaster and StubHub to facilitate seamless bookings. The AI leverages Google’s Project Mariner, integrating data from Google Maps, Knowledge Graph, and Search to provide accurate, context-aware results. This integration aims to streamline the user experience, making it easier to find and reserve services directly through search.

Currently, these advanced AI features are exclusive to subscribers of the premium Google AI Ultra plan in the US, accessible via Google Labs. Subscribers can also opt to have the AI remember past interactions to deliver more personalized results over time.

Google has also introduced a sharing feature, enabling users to invite others into ongoing AI conversations. This collaborative tool is useful for planning trips, parties, or other group activities, with the ability for the original user to revoke shared access at any time.
