Home Bargains will close 560 of its stores for 24-hours next month.

Shops across England and Wales will shut for Easter Sunday on April 5.

While the majority of UK stores will be closed, all 70 branches in Scotland will remain open as usual.

Shoppers will still be able to get their Home Bargains fix on Good Friday and Easter Monday, with stores opening from 9am until 7pm.

Home Bargains advised customers to call or check their local store’s social media pages for updates on opening hours.

The Express reports that under the Sunday Trading Act 1994, stores over 280 square metres in size were legally obliged to close on Easter Sunday.

However, due to smaller stores being exempt from the act, they can remain open.

Other exemptions include airport and railway station outlets, service stations, registered pharmacies, farms selling their own produce, outlets selling motor supplies and suppliers of goods to aircrafts.

Home Bargains, which employs around 28,000 staff, said a wave of new branches would open in 2026.

The firm reported rising profits and turnover in its most recent yearly figures, as sales climbed by 7.9 per cent from £4,209m to £4,541m for the year ending June 30, 2025.
