Step-by-step instructions: By email, By cable, Via WhatsApp web
You received a photo on WhatsApp and would like to save it on your PC? Nothing easier than that! Learn different ways how to transfer photos from smartphone to PC directly from WhatsApp.
Transfer WhatsApp Photos to PC: Wired (for Android)
You can quickly move media data from Android phone to computer via cable without setup:
-
Connect your smartphone and computer with a USB cable.
-
Wait a few seconds for the two devices to connect.
-
Control your mobile phone via the workplace.
-
Go to the WhatsApp folder. By default, you can find the folder on internal storage under “WhatsAppMedia.”
-
Here you will find subfolders for the various file types. Photos are in the “WhatsApp Images” folder, videos in “WhatsApp Video.”
-
Copy the entire subfolders or select individual images that you want to transfer to PC.
-
Create a folder on your PC and paste the WhatsApp files there.
Transfer WhatsApp photos to PC: Use WhatsApp web
WhatsAppWeb is also recommended for copying a photo from WhatsApp to PC. With this you get the complete WhatsApp interface including all messages, pictures and videos directly from your mobile phone to the PC. All Whatsapp content appears in your browser. You can read how to start WhatsappWeb in the article I linked below.
In Whatsapp web, go to the chat you want and scroll to the image you want to save. Click on this with the right mouse button. A menu opens in which you click that you want to save the graphic (“Save graphic as”).
In the save dialog, choose a folder for the image. WhatsApp doesn’t name the images in a meaningful way: Images from the chat are always called “index.jpeg”, while status images have endlessly long, completely incomprehensible file names. It is therefore advisable to give the image file its own meaningful name.
You can also copy videos to the PC via WhatsAppWeb. Here you do it a little differently. Hover your mouse over the top right corner of the video image in the chat history. A small angle will appear. If you click on it, a menu will open. In it, click “Download”, and then you can save your video.
However, if you value quality, it is not a good idea to send pictures or videos via WhatsApp. The service basically reduces images and videos before they are sent in order to save data volume. The quality suffers as a result.
Conclusion
Transferring a photo from WhatsApp to your own PC is child’s play. Use the functions to transfer beautiful photos. Not only from your smartphone, but also from the smartphones of your friends and relatives!
