Is the ASUS ROG Strix XG34WCDG Worth It for Visuals?

I’ve been eyeing the ASUS ROG Strix XG34WCDG ultrawide monitor recently, mainly because of its impressive specs and supposed stunning visuals. I mostly do gaming and some creative work, so a good display is crucial. I ran into some mixed reviews online, with some people loving the color accuracy and immersion, while others mention issues like ghosting or calibration problems.

After reading a lot, I still feel unsure if this monitor lives up to the hype, especially regarding its visual quality in real-world use. I’m wondering if anyone here has actually used it extensively and can give an honest opinion about the visual experience — like, do the colors truly pop? Is the image crisp enough for detailed editing?

Should I go ahead and buy it, or are there better options out there for the same price range? Would love some advice from actual users or anyone with hands-on experience.

I have this monitor, and the visuals are honestly stunning, especially for gaming. The colors are vibrant, and the curved display really immerses you. No major ghosting issues for me.

John, that's good to hear! Do you think it's suitable for photo editing too? I mainly do creative work and need accurate color reproduction.

I was considering this monitor too, but I heard some people mention calibration problems out of the box. Did you have to do any adjustments?

Mike, I did a quick calibration with software tools, but overall it wasn't too bad. The default settings were quite good for gaming, but creative work might need some tweaking.

I owned a different ASUS ultrawide, and I found ghosting to be an issue sometimes. Did you experience that, @John? How's the response time?

Interesting:

Emily, response time is decent for gaming, but I did notice some minor ghosting during fast-paced scenes. It's not a deal-breaker for me.

Would you say the build quality justifies the price? I’ve seen some cheaper models with similar specs.

Tom, in my experience, ASUS generally has solid build quality. The curve and design feel premium, but it depends if the visual quality matches the hype for you.

For creative tasks, I prefer IPS panels for better color accuracy. How does this VA panel compare in that regard?

Alex, VA panels tend to have better contrast but slightly less accurate colors compared to IPS. Still, for gaming and general use, it looks great.
