Is the ASUS TUF 300Hz Monitor Worth It?
I’ve been trying to decide whether to upgrade my gaming setup, and I keep hearing about the ASUS TUF Gaming 300Hz monitor. I mostly play fast-paced FPS games like Valorant and Apex Legends, so high refresh rate seems important. But I’m concerned about whether it really makes a noticeable difference compared to my current 144Hz monitor. Also, I’ve read some reviews mentioning issues with color accuracy and build quality, which worries me since I want something reliable for long gaming sessions.
Has anyone here used the ASUS TUF 300Hz? Does it truly improve gameplay that much? Or is it just hype? I don’t want to spend tons of money if the upgrade isn’t significant. Would love to hear real experiences or advice before I make a decision.

I've had the ASUS TUF 300Hz for a few months. Build quality is solid, but I didn't notice a huge difference in color accuracy. It’s mainly good for competitive gaming.

I heard some people mention ghosting or motion blur at high refresh rates. Did you encounter that, @John? How's the image clarity?

Emily, I think it depends on the panel technology. The ASUS TUF uses TN panels, which are fast but may have worse color. If color accuracy matters, maybe look at IPS panels.

I have a TN panel monitor and love the fast response times, but I agree the colors can be dull. Do you think the TUF offers good value for the price?

For competitive play, I think 300Hz can give you an edge. But if you're a casual gamer, maybe 144Hz is enough. What's your casual or competitive priority?

James, I play casually but want the best responsiveness. Would you say the 300Hz is worth the extra cost over 144Hz?

In my experience, the difference between 144Hz and 300Hz is big for fast reactions, but it also depends on your GPU. If your PC can't push high frames, the benefit is limited.
Interesting:

Good point, @Ben. My GPU struggles at high settings, so I might not get the full benefit. Do you think the ASUS TUF supports G-Sync or FreeSync? That might help.
.png)
It supports FreeSync, which is nice. But I think the main thing is the high refresh rate itself. As long as your system can handle the frames.

Tom, does FreeSync work well with NVIDIA cards? I use a 3070 and heard some compatibility issues.
.png)
I have a 3070 and use FreeSync with my ASUS TUF monitor, no issues so far. Just make sure your drivers are up to date.

Are there any downsides to the ASUS TUF 300Hz? Noise, flickering, or anything else that users have noticed?
.png)
Kevin, I’ve heard some people mention that TN panels can have limited viewing angles. Is that true here?
.png)
I haven’t noticed flickering, but the brightness is a bit lower than some other monitors. Not a big deal for me, though.

Yes, TN panels generally have narrow viewing angles, but for gaming, that’s usually acceptable. If you care about color and viewing angles, consider IPS.

Overall, I think the ASUS TUF 300Hz is a solid choice for competitive gamers, but if you’re into color accuracy or casual gaming, maybe look elsewhere.
I upgraded to a 300Hz monitor recently, and honestly, the difference in responsiveness is noticeable, especially in fast shooters.
Mike, does it really help with aiming and reaction time, or is it just smoother visuals? I'm debating between 144Hz and 300Hz.
