Is the GEEKOM G1 Worth It? My Experience & Questions

I recently bought the GEEKOM G1 Mini Computer after reading a lot of reviews praising its compact size and decent performance. As someone who needs a small device for light office work and media streaming, it seemed like a perfect fit. However, after setting it up, I ran into a few issues that I didn’t expect.

First, I noticed that when I connect multiple peripherals—like a keyboard, mouse, and external monitor—the system sometimes becomes sluggish or unresponsive. Also, I was surprised to find that the built-in Wi-Fi struggles a bit when streaming high-definition videos, even though the specs suggested it should handle it easily.

Given these experiences, I’m wondering: **Should I keep this device for my daily tasks, or is there a better alternative in the same price range?** Has anyone else faced similar issues or found ways to optimize performance? Would love to hear your thoughts before I decide to return or keep it.

I've been using the G1 for a few weeks now. For basic tasks, it's pretty solid, but I did notice some lag when connecting multiple USB devices. Maybe upgrading the RAM could help?

John, I read that the G1 supports up to 16GB of RAM, but some models only come with 8GB. Did you check yours? Upgrading might improve multitasking.

I have the G1 and haven't faced Wi-Fi issues. Are you using the latest drivers? Sometimes, a driver update fixes streaming problems.

Mike, good point. I had some Wi-Fi drops initially, but updating the network drivers helped. Also, check your router settings for bandwidth limits.

Honestly, I think the G1 is good for light tasks but not for heavy multitasking or gaming. For your streaming, maybe consider a mini PC with better Wi-Fi modules.

David, do you think the G1 could handle more demanding applications if upgraded, or is it just not designed for that? I’m debating whether to buy one.

I’ve had issues with sluggishness when connecting multiple peripherals too, but I found that disconnecting unnecessary devices helped. Also, keep your OS optimized.

James, good tip. Is there a way to prioritize certain devices or limit background processes to improve responsiveness? I’m thinking of getting a G1 for my home office.
