Is the Gtheos Headset’s Noise Canceling Mic Worth It?
I recently bought the Gtheos headset because I needed good noise canceling for gaming and calls. Initially, I was impressed by the sound quality and comfort, but after a few days, I started noticing that the microphone doesn’t seem to cancel out background noise as well as I expected. It picks up a lot of ambient sounds, especially when I’m in a noisy room or if someone is talking nearby. I was hoping for a more professional mic experience, especially since the product claims to have advanced noise canceling technology.
Has anyone tested this headset in real-world situations? Does the noise canceling microphone actually work well, or am I better off with a dedicated mic? Should I consider returning it and looking for a different model? Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful, thanks!

I found that boosting the mic gain made background noise more noticeable. Lowering it helped a bit.

I’ve used the Gtheos for streaming, and I noticed the same issue. Maybe it’s more of a directional mic problem?

I think the noise canceling might be more effective if you talk directly into the mic and stay close. Did you try that?

Honestly, I returned mine because the noise canceling was just not enough in my busy office. Got a different headset with a dedicated boom mic.

Laura, which headset did you switch to? Looking for recommendations.

I use a Blue Yeti for streaming, and it’s much better at noise canceling than my previous gaming headset.

Could it be a defect? Maybe your unit isn’t functioning properly. Did you try contacting customer support?

James, good point. Sometimes hardware issues can cause poor noise canceling. It might be worth a warranty claim.

For me, the mic quality was decent, but background noise was still quite noticeable. It’s not a professional-grade mic, so I wasn’t expecting miracles.

Has anyone tested it with a quick recording? That might give a clearer idea of how well it cancels noise.

I think the key is how close you speak into the mic. If you stay close, it does a better job.

Brian, that’s true, but in noisy rooms, even close-up mics struggle. Sometimes, external noise is unavoidable.

Overall, I’d say it’s decent for the price, but if noise canceling is your main priority, you might want to look at more expensive options.
I have the Gtheos headset too, and I agree, the noise canceling isn’t perfect. It’s okay for casual calls but not great in noisy environments.
John, do you think it’s worth trying to adjust the mic settings or firmware? Sometimes updates improve performance.
