Is the MSI Thin 15 the Best Entry-Level 144Hz Laptop?
I recently decided I want to get into gaming, but I don’t want to spend a fortune. After researching, the MSI Thin 15 caught my eye because of its 144Hz display and relatively affordable price. I’ve read some reviews claiming it’s a solid entry-level choice, but I’m not entirely convinced.
The thing is, I’ve never owned a gaming laptop before, and I’m worried about performance and build quality. I mainly want to play popular titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and some indie games. My main concern is whether this laptop can handle gaming smoothly without breaking the bank. Also, I’ve heard some say the thermals can be an issue.
Should I go for the MSI Thin 15 as my first gaming laptop, or are there better options out there? Would love to hear from anyone with real experience or advice before I make a decision.

I’ve owned a similar MSI model. They’re decent but don’t expect it to run AAA titles at max settings. More of an entry-level device.

I recommend checking out reviews on YouTube. Many users show real gameplay and thermal tests. That helped me decide.

Is the keyboard comfortable for long gaming sessions? That’s something I’d worry about for a budget laptop.

Chris, I find MSI keyboards pretty decent. Not as premium as high-end models, but good enough for casual gaming.

I think the MSI Thin 15 is good for beginners, but be prepared to upgrade RAM or SSD later on for better performance.

Does anyone know how the battery life holds up during gaming? That’s a big factor for me.

Laura, gaming on battery usually cuts performance and drains the battery quickly. Expect around 2-3 hours max.

I upgraded my MSI Thin 15 with an extra SSD and it helped a lot with storage and speed.

Are there any other laptops around the same price with better specs? I’m considering options.

Kevin, Dell G15 and ASUS TUF are usually comparable. It depends on what features matter most to you.

I think the MSI Thin 15 is a solid choice for entry-level, but don’t expect it to run everything at ultra settings.

What about build quality? Is it sturdy enough for daily use and travel?

In my experience, MSI builds are decent but not premium. Handle with care to avoid damage.

Jason, do you think it’s worth saving for a better build or is this good enough for a starter?

I’d say it’s good for starting out. You can always upgrade parts later if needed.

Are there any known issues with the MSI Thin 15 I should watch out for?

Rachel, some users report fan noise and thermal throttling, but it varies by unit.

How does it compare to AMD-based laptops in the same range? Any advantages?

Daniel, Intel versions tend to have slightly better compatibility, but AMD offers better price-to-performance.

Would you recommend this for someone who’s new to gaming and wants to learn the basics?
I have the MSI Thin 15 and it’s been pretty good for the price. The 144Hz screen is a game-changer for me, especially in fast-paced games.
Mike, how’s the thermals? I’ve heard some models get pretty hot after extended gaming.
