Kate Middleton Shows How to Transition from Winter to Spring in Ralph Lauren Pleated Knit Dress for Leicester Outing
Kate Middleton favored knitted attire in a pleated cream Ralph Lauren dress for her latest outing on Thursday in Leicester, England.
The Princess of Wales curated a mostly cream-colored ensemble, with a wool ribbed knit midi dress in a soft shade. The silhouette of the frock included long sleeves and a cinched waist for added definition. By contrast, the skirt of the dress flowed with movement, with added pleats providing an elegant, classic design element.

Atop her Ralph Lauren dress, Middleton wore a bespoke coat courtesy of Chris Kerr. The Princess of Wales has worn several coats by the London-based tailor in the past, including for a January outing in Scotland with Prince William.
Tailored to Middleton’s frame, the coat featured such elements as sharp lapels and hip pockets. Touches of color were added to Middleton’s attire with her Sezane earrings in blue and gold brass, along with her suede brown Gianvito Rossi pointed toe pumps. The royal also boasted a long garland of red roses — a token of her Leicester community visit.

As the seasons transition from winter to spring, Middleton’s color palette for her Leicester visit indicates the elements of an adaptive wardrobe. Merging a wool knit dress in a soft tone with her tailored coat in a similar shade harkened to springtime colors, while still staying warm in chillier temperatures.
Ralph Lauren is a designer Middleton has turned to in the past, embracing the American designer‘s own penchant for streamlined statement pieces. Contrasted with the Chris Kerr coat, Middleton merges modernity with London history — the designer is Soho’s longest standing tailor, founded in the 1960s.

The Princess of Wales’ trip to Leicester on Thursday afforded the British royal an opportunity to visit the Aakash Odedra Company, where the royal met members of the international touring dance troupe. Middleton visited Leicester to honor the community’s culture, with her visit coming the day after the Hindu Festival of Holi.
