As the first episode of Married at First Sight Australia season 13 has finally landed on UK screens, viewers are only just beginning their journey with one of the season’s most talked-about couples: Alissa and David.

Who are David and Alissa?

Alissa, 33, is a nurse and social media manager from South Australia who signed up for the experiment after her six-year relationship ended late last year.

Her newly-wed husband, David, is a 31-year-old e-commerce manager from Queensland. Born in Nigeria, he moved to Australia with his family when he was 12.

David and Alissa were the first to say “I do” in this series, kicking off Married at First Sight Australia S13 with a dramatic moment at the altar.

What has happened for Alissa and David on MAFS Australia so far?

By now, UK viewers will have seen the awkward start for David and Alissa, due to Alissa’s sudden cold feet at the altar.

In a shocking twist, Alissa reveals she’s not sure if she can go through with the ceremony, but then makes an unexpected request: she will marry David, on the condition that he gets down on one knee and proposes.

Thankfully David agrees, and they have *that kiss*, and the couple have been pretty much smooth sailing ever since.

From what has been aired over in Australia, it seems their relationship actually becomes one of the most stable in the experiment. While other couples clash during dinner parties and commitment ceremonies, Alissa and David quietly emerge as one of the stronger, less chaotic pairings of the season.

And despite Alissa being involved in girl drama, David has remained steadfast in defending her, with Alissa posting a picture of the couple captioned, “Mean girl energy incoming… I’m not here for it.”

But things are not entirely perfect. In the fourth Commitment Ceremony, Alissa described David as both her “calm” and her “home”, but hinted at something being missing…

In the most recent episode, Alissa uses the word “unstimulated” to describe their connection – a potentially worrying sign, as expert Mel Schilling acknowledged.

However, Alissa decided she is willing to embrace a drama-free relationship, and continue the experiment being committed to David.

Are Alissa and David from MAFS Australia still together?

Great news for fans who support them: yes, it appears they are still together.

Careful viewers noticed photos circulating online that show Alissa and David celebrating their one-month anniversary together, suggesting their relationship continued well beyond what we’ve seen so far on screen.

While we’ll have to wait for the season finale and reunion to get the full story, the signs so far suggest that their calm, supportive dynamic may actually be working.
