Met Office issues yellow weather warning as strong winds and heavy rain are expected
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Lincolnshire as strong winds and heavy rain is expected.
The yellow weather warning will be in place from 5am until 8pm on Thursday, March 12, for parts of the county.
Gainsborough, Kirton in Lindsey and parts of northern Lincolnshire fall within the warning area, as well as parts of The Humber, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The Met Office states: “A period of strong winds, accompanied by heavy rain, is expected on Thursday with some transport disruption possible.”
The government organisation warns that gusts of 50mph to 55mph are “expected widely” and that some coastal locations could see gusts of up to 70mph in few places.
It advises anyone along the coast to stay safe in stormy weather by being aware of large waves, to take care if walking near cliffs and to keep dogs on a lead.
Winds are expected to ease from the north throughout the day.
