The NRL world is sending a wave of congratulations on the news about Latrell and his partner.
NRL fans and fellow players are sending messages of congratulations to Latrell Mitchell and partner Brielle Mercy after they announced they’re expecting their fourth child. Brielle posted the lovely news on social media this week, writing: “Because 3 kids isn’t crazy enough.”
The post was accompanied by three photos, showing Brielle’s bump and the ultrasound. Latrell and Brielle have two daughters together – Inala and Aleena – and son Kobe.

The post was flooded with messages from around the NRL world, with former South Sydney players Hame Sele and Taane Milne sending their congratulations. The South Sydney Rabbitohs account wrote: “A new little Rabbitoh on the way. Congratulations Latrell and Brielle.”
Marcelo Montoya’s wife Tayla also commented, as did Courtney Cook – the wife of Dragons hooker and fellow Rabbitohs player Damien Cook. They both wrote: “Congratulations guys.”
Latrell Mitchell helps Alex Johnston make history
The family news comes as Mitchell adjusts to a new position in 2026. After spending the majority of his club career playing fullback, Mitchell has been switched to the centres this season.
The move is designed to accommodate Jye Gray at fullback, after the young gun established himself as one of the game’s most promising No.1s last season. The position switch saw Mitchell play a huge role in helping Alex Johnston make NRL history on Friday night.

Johnston took his career try tally to 213, breaking the all-time record of 212 that was held by Ken Irvine. Mitchell laid on two try assists against the Roosters that helped Johnston move from 211 to 213.
Unfortunately for Souths it wasn’t enough as they went down 26-18 to their arch-rivals. Mitchell is hoping a self-imposed media ban will help him recapture his best NRL form after a tumultuous few years plagued by injuries and off-field dramas.
He hasn’t spoken publicly to the media in over 12 months, and the Rabbitohs are happy to allow it if it means Mitchell can focus on his footy and play his best. Under NRL rules, all players must be made available to the media every few weeks, but at this stage there’s been no edict from the NRL that Mitchell has to speak.
