Once downloaded, install the extension by clicking Tools/Extension Manager/Add in Open Office. You then open a PDF in Writer by right-clicking the PDF and selecting Open With/Writer.
Drawings and diagrams are automatically converted to graphics when imported into Writer. The text in PDFs is usually imported line by line – but in the case of complete paragraphs, the lines are usually recognized as a coherent element and are therefore merged.

Note: In the case of particularly complex PDF documents that contain complex tables and graphics, the PDF document may not import smoothly. However, these are exceptions: As a rule, this extension is a real work simplification, which greatly simplifies the editing of PDF documents in OpenOffice.
