Oz Lotto winner shares surprising plans after bagging $40 million jackpot: ‘Top priority
A generous Australian man has proudly revealed his plans to share his millions after taking out a mega $40 million Oz Lotto win. The lucky winner, from Newcastle, NSW, said he’s “absolutely shocked” by the massive windfall, which he admitted has “changed at least 10 people’s lives,” including his own.
The Lott’s Matt Hart shared the life-changing news with the division one winner on Wednesday morning, following Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw 1672.
When speaking with Yahoo News Australia, Hart admitted that “some winners take time to wrap their heads around their win before sharing the news with anyone” — but it was the first thing this man did.
“He was so happy and also quite emotional when talking about how he’s going to support his family,” Hart said.
“His family is clearly his world and top priority and he can’t wait to give them all a helping hand.”
“This winner was so euphoric at his good fortune that he’d already called his nearest and dearest to share the joy,” he told Yahoo News.

Aussie man’s travel plans after lotto win
When learning of the “huge” news on Wednesday morning, after missing the call on Tuesday evening, the humbled winner admitted it had “blown [him] out of the water”.
“They say money doesn’t change your life. That’s rubbish! This just changed at least 10 people’s lives,” he exclaimed.
“I have rung everyone this morning and said, ‘your worries are going away – I’m going to look after all of you’.”
He will be enjoying some of the money himself, however, with Hart revealing the winner’s plans to travel Australia — a dream shared by many adventurous Aussies who have hit the road.
“His only immediate plan for the prize was to buy a motorhome and travel in Australia while he comes to terms with his multi-million-dollar prize,” Hart revealed.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1672 on Tuesday 24 February 2026 were 25, 43, 27, 33, 5, 7 and 2, while the supplementary numbers were 28, 31 and 42.
