Sennheiser Enhances Ambeo Max Soundbar with Lossless Audio and Customizable Sound Features
Sennheiser has announced a major update for its premium Ambeo Soundbar Max, a high-end home theater speaker priced at $2,000. The firmware upgrade introduces two new features—Customizable Immersion and Voice Enhancement Mode—along with support for lossless audio formats, elevating the soundbar’s capabilities significantly.
The update, delivered via the free Ambeo OS2 firmware through the Sennheiser Smart Control app for iOS and Android, allows users to personalize their listening experience. Customizable Immersion enables adjustment of volume levels for side, top, and center channel virtualization, giving users control over spatial sound effects tailored to their preferences or specific content. Meanwhile, Voice Enhancement Mode ensures dialogue remains clear during movies, TV shows, or sports events by boosting vocal frequencies and minimizing sound effects or background music interference.
In addition to spatial audio support for Dolby Atmos Music, the Ambeo Max now offers lossless audio playback. According to Sennheiser, users can enjoy up to 24-bit/96kHz quality via Google Cast and up to 24-bit/192kHz through Tidal Connect, delivering studio-quality sound directly from streaming services.
Originally launched in 2019 as the Ambeo Soundbar, the product was later renamed and expanded into a lineup that includes the mid-sized Plus and compact Mini models. The Max was initially priced at $2,500, later increased to $3,000, but Sennheiser now offers it at a reduced price of $2,000. The company claims that its advanced bass performance and Ambeo spatial tech eliminate the need for a separate subwoofer or rear speakers, a claim supported by initial reviews.
