More and more smartphones come without a jack socket for connecting wired headphones. Because Bluetooth wireless technology now makes completely wireless earphones possible, such earplugs are now a common sight. However, the very cheap ones are often unreasonable in terms of sound and processing quality. And the expensive ones, well, they’re very expensive.
In this respect, it is worth a try when a renowned manufacturer like Sennheiser offers wireless earphones that can be bought for 100 euros. To say it in advance: The company from near Hanover is not naked, the earphones called CX400 BT are worth their money.
This is probably also due to the fact that they are the little siblings of the Momentum True Wireless 2 from the same company, which, however, cost 250 euros. The only big difference: the CX400 lacks active noise cancellation. If this is extremely important, the small Sennheisers are not suitable for them. Due to the design as a plug for the ear, however, they already provide a good seal against external noise.
What’s missing compared to the big brother is the so-called transparency mode, which means that you can put the headphones in your ear so to speak. In addition, the certification of waterproofness is missing. But the most important thing has remained: the good sound.
The bass reaches deep down – always assuming the headphones sit firmly in the ear – the highs are clear. In order for the headphones to fit well, it is important to determine which of the three silicone sleeves supplied fit best. The plugs should sit securely, also so that they do not fall out. But they shouldn’t press either, which quickly turns listening into an unpleasant experience.
The CX400 can be operated via sensor surfaces. Which operating steps are triggered can also be set within limits in a free app. This also contains an equalizer that enables individual sound settings. The batteries last up to seven hours – depending on the volume and the quality of the Bluetooth connection. The charging box provides a further 13 hours of juice before a socket is finally needed.
All in all, a very good offer for the price – in terms of sound, the CX400 is hard to beat.
