Valve Reveals New High-Performance Steam Machine and Controller for Living Room Gaming

Valve is preparing to expand its gaming ecosystem with a new, powerful SteamOS-based device aimed at transforming living room entertainment. Nearly four years after the groundbreaking Steam Deck, the company announced an upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Controller, both slated for release in early 2026. These devices are designed to offer a seamless gaming experience on TVs or as a desktop PC alternative, emphasizing integration with the Steam Library.

The specifications of the Steam Machine reveal impressive hardware, featuring a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 six-core CPU reaching speeds up to 4.8 GHz, paired with an AMD RDNA3 GPU boasting 28 compute units. Supporting this is 16GB of DDR5 RAM and an additional 8GB of dedicated DDR6 VRAM for graphics processing. Users will have options with 512GB or 2TB SSD storage, though pricing details are still under wraps.

Industry experts note that the hardware positions the Steam Machine as a mid-range gaming PC, capable of supporting ray tracing and 4K gaming at 60 fps with FSR upscaling technology. Valve claims the device is over six times more powerful than the Steam Deck, promising a significant leap in portable and home gaming performance.

This new hardware aims to provide gamers with a versatile, high-performance option that bridges the gap between portable devices and full-sized gaming PCs, enhancing the overall Steam experience.
